So you’ve decided to host a pub quiz . . . great idea, now you need to get the word out because without proper promotion and marketing you’ll be presenting to an empty room!
Use Social Media
These days almost everyone uses social media to access and share information. It can be a relatively easy and cost effective way to get the word out about your event so, whether you have 10 or 10,000 followers, regularly spend time promoting your quiz night.
If you’ve got a Facebook page for your business you should advertise there regularly. If you don’t already have one, you can find out how to set one up here, it’s really easy. You could post some sample questions to get people thinking that they’d like to attend or you could take photos or videos at your quizzes and share them on your page.
You could host themed quizzes to attract fans of movies or TV shows e.g. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Friends or Disney. It’s also great to host quizzes set around annual events like Christmas and Halloween or if there are major events happening such as The World Cup, Olympics etc you could include rounds on these topics. Any of these could include fancy dress which would add to the event and look great in your photos or videos!
Advertise In Your Venue
It sounds pretty obvious but put posters or blackboards up around your venue. Try to put them in areas with high footfall like next to the bar, beside the main entrance and even in the toilets! If you have TV screens in your venue you could create advertisements to publicise your quizzes.
We’ve also made loads of promotional material to help you out. We’ve got leaflets, table talkers and beer mats ready-made to order or you could make your own using the designs in the Crafty Quiz Marketing Pack. In this you’ll find loads of high quality and high-resolution images to use to promote your event. All images are in Photoshop (PSD), Document (PDF) and Image (PNG) formats.
Other Promotional Ideas
You could negotiate with other business in the area to “swap” advertising space, so they display your poster and you display theirs. If your town or city has a local what’s-on guide, depending on the cost and readership, you could place adverts in that or if there is a local charity that is supported by your business, you could offer to hold a quiz in partnership with them.
Happy Quizzing!
