general questions
Players answer questions and mark songs off with our free app so there’s no pens, paper, printing or handing out and collecting answer sheets or bingo cards. Plus, because players answer immediately there’s no time to check Google or phone a friend so there’s no more cheating!
The software marks answers and checks bingo calls so you don’t need to spend ages swapping and marking answer sheets, and there’s no arguing over who’s won.
There’s loads of different question types and features so quizzes are much more exciting and you can change the format each week keeping your quizzes interesting. During bingo, instead of boring old numbers being called out, you play music for players to mark off their bingo card so it’s much more fun!
All you need is a computer with internet access or a router.
With a little thought and planning a pub quiz or bingo night can boost your takings significantly on quieter nights of the week and for a fraction of the cost of Sky or BT Sports.
If you or a member of your staff are happy to host the event then there’s nothing stopping you hosting an event in your venue. All you need to do is download the software, buy a Quiz Master Licence and you’re ready to go! We’ve even made an easy to follow checklist to help you plan and host your event.
Unlimited subscribers also get a new quiz pack each week plus free access to hundreds of exclusive rounds for Unlimited subscribers only and you can get all this for less than £6 per week!
Being a Quiz Master can be great fun and if you’re good enough, it can be pretty lucrative! Also, you get to socialise as you entertain people, you are your own boss and you can do it in addition to your ‘real’ job.
If you can read clearly and are confident enough to host an event all you need is a laptop which can run Crafty Quiz and a Quiz Master Licence. Depending on your venue you may also need a Crafty Quiz Mini Router, a microphone and an understanding of how to connect audio / visual equipment.
Once you’ve got your equipment and you’ve practiced on family and friends the next step is to find a venue which has a quiet night and offer them a demonstration and tell them about the benefits.
- They’re loads more fun
- Stops people cheating
- They’ll get new customers coming to their venue
- You can fill their venue on a quiet night
- Costs a fraction of the price of Sky or BT Sport
Tell them you’ll provide the content and equipment and help with advertising and think about the following:
- Are they willing to provide prizes, normally food or drinks vouchers?
- Are you going to charge a flat fee for your services or charge per customer who takes part?
- You could offer an introductory price for your service
- The venue will need to help promote the event with posters, signs and social media
This is completely up to you. You could charge per participant or per team and then use the money to fund prizes or if your hosting a charity event the money could go to the good cause. Most people are willing to pay a small fee to take part in a game especially if the money goes to a good cause.
If you don’t want to charge people to take part you could just offer food and drink vouchers as prizes to keep costs down. Either way Crafty Quiz is so much fun you don’t need to offer large prizes, in fact games that offer substantial cash prizes can encourage participants to be over-competitive and encourage cheating.
When you use a router, Crafty Quiz works over the router’s wi-fi network, so the data only travels a short distance between your computer and your player’s devices and not over the internet. This means you’re players need to connect to a specific wi-fi network but you’re not at the mercy of poor internet connections and weak phone signals. It’s also more reliable and much faster and there’s no limit to the number of devices that can connect.
When you’re playing over the internet you don’t need any extra equipment and your players don’t need to connect to a specific wi-fi network so this is perfect for hosing quizzes or bingo games over Zoom, Skype or Teams. Due to the amount of data being transferred over the internet you are limited to 100 answering devices.

No, you can also play Crafty Quiz over the internet so you don’t need any extra equipment. This is perfect for hosting remote quizzes over Facebook, YouTube Zoom or Teams and means you can host a quiz anywhere in the world!
Most definitely! This is because, regardless of how much they cost, not all routers can provide adequate coverage and will reliably connect to lots of devices simultaneously. Some routers may also have security systems which may block the software from working.
We recommend using the Crafty Quiz Mini Router because it has been specifically designed to work with the Crafty Quiz software and comes setup to work straight out of the box.
If you’re hosting a game at home with family a few friends, then a home router should be okay. We tested Crafty Quiz using Sky, Virgin, BT, Asus, Netgear, TP-Link and Linksys routers and had no problems connecting five devices and playing a quiz in a normal sized room.
However we cannot guarantee this will be the case with all routers, therefore we strongly suggest you test the compatibility of your router with Crafty Quiz using Demo mode before purchasing a licence.
Please also note that we are unable to offer technical support for any router other than the Crafty Quiz Mini Router.
The Crafty Quiz Mini Router has been specifically designed to work with the Crafty Quiz software and comes setup to work straight out of the box.
You can use it as your master router with up to 30 participant devices connected or as an extender to increase the range of your master router.
It’s really easy to use, you just connect it to your laptop with the supplied Ethernet cable and micro USB power cable and you’re ready to go. Plus, they’re half price if you buy it when you buy your licence.
We wouldn’t recommend it as some commercial networks have security systems which may block the software from accessing the network. Plus, we are unable to offer technical support when using this type of system, so it would be better to use a Crafty Quiz Mini Router or play over the internet.
Even when you’re using a router you don’t have to connect your laptop to the router with a cable, but we strongly recommend it as it greatly improves reliability and performance.
If you are playing over the internet then you will need a good, stable internet connection. If you are using a router then you don’t need an internet connection during your event but you do need an internet connection to authorise your licence and we strongly recommend doing this several hours before your event.
Your participants can download the free answering app from the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Amazon App Store.
No, the software will only run on a computer running Windows.
You only need to use a television screen or projector if you want to include video in any of your questions as this is the only way contestants would be able to see them.
Not currently but we are in the process of making one so watch this space.
